Whilst Robinson has a number of specific causes we fundraise for, these do not cover every aspect of our varied work. For this reason, we also maintain a discretionary fund (or General Fund) that can be used wherever and whenever most needed by the College, from covering regular expenses to meeting extraordinary costs.

The Robinson College General Fund allows us to match the most pressing needs of the College as and when they emerge. Just some of the areas this fund supports include:

• Teaching – Funding provides for the supervision system that makes a Cambridge experience so unique, but also gives our Fellows the resources they need for vital research that our students then benefit from.
• Student Bursaries – Our students, undergraduate and postgraduate, come from varied backgrounds; financial assistance ensures they can all study here alike, and have the same educational experience.
• College Societies and Sports – By funding these activities, as well as providing grants to act as levellers so that everyone can take part in them, this work enriches the student experience at all levels.
